Growing Up
Gabrielle Chanel along with her two sisters were taken to a boarding school in town of Moulin that was run by nuns. Her two brothers were placed with a family, as unpaid child laborers. During her six year stay she slept in her unheated room and ate at the table with other unfortunate children.
Young Adult
Gabrielle Coco Chanel never wanted to admit or except the extent of the poverty in her youth. As an adult Gabrielle Chanel never admitted to her humble beginnings and insisted that she was raised by her aunts. However her stories always changed and/or were contradictory to what she had previously said. The story always seemed to fit the event, moment, or situation that she was in. When she was old enought to leave the boarding school the nuns were kind enough to sign her up for a job at a local boutique, the House of Grampayre. Since she learned to sew in boarding school she worked at the shop as an assistant and seamstress. The neatness of her work seemed to pass along from person to person and soon costumers were racing in for gabrielle's personal alterations. She also had a job at a tailor shop once week where she met many gentleman who took an interest in Chanel.
